Answering the Tough Questions

Hello! Happy Wednesday! Today I am linking up with Erin from Living in Yellow to "answer tough questions"

1. If you could do one thing differently in your life, what would it be?
This is hard!  I think the one thing I wish I had done a little differently would involove school.  When I joined the Air Force in 2009, it was a necessity. I couldnt afford to pay for anymore of college on my own and the Air Force paid for school which is great but its impossible to get more than a couple classes done at a time.  If I had somehow been able to afford school on my own I would already have my degree!

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I see myself somewhere on the west coast, hopefully in a house with lots of land, with a couple babies and still crazy in love with Sky.

3. Do you honestly want kids?
YES!  Oh my goodness, yes.  I don't think there is anything in life I want more than a house full of kids.

4. What has been the best moment of your life so far?
Marrying Sky. Oh I am so mushy today, but that is the truth. I knew VERY early on that he was the man I wanted to marry and I didn't have to dream about that too long, we married after 6 months! There were other extenuating circumstances but we both knew, why wait!?

5. What is your life theme song?
Oh my. I have no idea.  I listen to a ton of music but I don't think I have found one that describes my life to a T.  One I do really love in "This" by Darius Rucker. I love that he talks about all the crappy things that happen to us were all leading to a better something. I think that's a good philosophy to live by.

6. What is one thing you have yet to accomplish that you want to do before you die?
Travel. I have seen so little of this world we live in. Life gets too busy and sometimes its too hard to get away and see new things.  There will always be more things to see and more places to go, hopefully I can start ticking some off the list.

7. If you could choose one thing to be known for, what would it be?
Being a fierce friend.  I think its easy to be a 'good' friend but I strive to be a fierce one. A friend that can dedicate my whole being to them when they need me. I am a few friends kinda girl, and thats how I like it!  I love that I get to spend my time a select few to grow our relationships.

8. If you could do anything you wanted right in this very moment (no consequences, no fear, etc), what would it be?
Buy a big old farmhouse that overlooks forests and mountains.  With acres of land to grow our family with love on. Also to plant and nurture our own chickens and produce.

9. What has been the most challenging moment in your life?
The most challenging is by far living so far away from my family. What I wouldnt do to be able to sit and talk with mom or to be able to help my nanny. This is time that I wont be able to get back and it breaks my heart.

10. Summarize yourself in one word.
Changing.  I am constantly changing, my desires, hope and dreams, plans, everything evolves and changes day to day. Its how life moves forward and we all have to move with it.

{Sponsored Post} GlassesUSA

I started wearing glasses in the 5th grade.  I remember that my mom came to get me at school for the appointment and I could hardly contain my excitement   Glasses!  I thought I was the coolest kid in the whole world. I mean not everybody was awesome enough to get to wear them, right?  I got back to class a couple hours later with a pair of very large rimmed gold glasses perched on my nose and a smile from ear to ear. I wish I had a picture to share with you because they were epic.  Fortunately, my sense of style has changed and evolved many many times since then and the pair I wear now is not only right on trend but actually fit my face shape.

GlassesUSA.com is an online glasses store that offers not only prescription glasses but prescription sunglasses as well.  They have a wide variety of frames to fit all face shapes, wire and plastic frames and more than a few shapes to choose from.

"Since 2008, GlassesUSA.com has changed the way people buy eyeglasses and revolutionized the optical industry by making prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses affordable to the masses - making vision care accessible. With a wide variety of high quality, fashionable eyeglass frames to choose from, GlassesUSA.com has become an industry leader that is committed to bringing you optimal vision at a price you can afford."

Almost every time I look to buy new glasses frames I find myself scrolling through the plastic frames.  I like a bigger frame to fill out my face.  I find that the wire frames tend to get lost on my face, not adding any character.  GlassesUSA had and AMAZING selection of plastic frames, tons of character, fitting to any outfit or mood.  Here are some of my favorites.

Another great feature the GlassesUSA offers is the virtual mirror.  This is such a fun feature and makes buying glasses just that much easier!  All you have have to do is upload your picture, choose the glasses you are liking and the mirror shows you how those frames would look on your face.  It takes all the guesswork and worry out of buying online.

For my lucky readers, GlassesUSA is offering two promo codes to use when buying your new frames!

  • STOREWIDE OFFER - Take 15% off + get free shipping on your entire order (orders over $50). Code: FS15
  • Take 10% off any order of prescription glasses. Code: Blog10

Make sure you follow GlassesUSA on Facebook and Twitter to be kept up to date on all sales and promotions and the be first to know about new frames!

Daytona Beach {Giveaway}

Last weekend we were able to take a little vacation down to Daytona Beach, just to get away and unwind for a couple days. Man, was it amazing!  We went with a friend of ours that has family in the area and they were kind enough to let us stay on their boat!  When we got to the docks its was past midnight, it was so quiet, the only sounds were ropes bouncing against metal poles and traffic in the background.  The water so so still and black.
Saturday when we woke up it was so dreary and windy, we were told this was classic Florida weather and that is would be sunny and hot in no time!  I wanted to see the beach, for no good reason, just to see it. This beach was crazy!  There was driving lanes all over the beach, I had never seen anything like it. It made the beach way more crowded and seemed pretty harmful for the beach and ocean.

{DIY} Recycled Candles

If you are anything like me you have 20 almost empty candles just hanging around, kept there because there is still too much wax to just toss it and yet the wick is so burnt it wont light.  So what do you do with it?  You melt the remaining wax and make new candles!  While this is an easy process, it does require some patience.  Wax doesn't melt as quickly as I thought it was going too.

I melted my wax two different ways. I had an almost full jar candle to melt down. For some reason the wick would never stay lit. I just plopped the whole jar in a pot of hot water and let it completely melt.

I had the water heated only to about medium high heat, I only heated it this hot because I didn't want the glass to break and it got the job done. Once all the wax was melted I poured it into an empty jar with a new wick.
These are the wicks I used, they were 3 1/2 inches long and can be purchased at any craft store.  The jars were just ones I had on hand, empty honey jars.

The second way I had to melt wax was like this....

I don't have a stacked sauce pan, but if you do, it would be perfect!  I just put a small metal bowl in the hot water and it worked just fine.  After I has scraped all my old candles the excess wax was put in the bowl.  I didn't pay any attention to the wax color, I wasn't really worried about what color the new candles were going to be. As the wax melted I poured it into the empty jars and then would put the bowl back in the water to let the wax continue to melt. That's how my candles turned out different colors. My bowl was pretty full of wax so again I would say it took about 30 minutes total to melt all of it.
Happy candle making!

I have also been working on some new projects, nothing monumental but worth sharing anyway.

Cardboard letter 'K' painted black and outlined with polka dot washi tape.  I added it to the gallery wall.
Painted terra cotta pots that hold easy to keep alive plants.  They add such color to apartment!
